We’re not a giant language school, and we don’t aspire to be one. We prefer to know each student personally and support them closely in a relaxed, welcoming environment. We want Porteñísima to feel like a small home away from home—a place that welcomes and takes care of you while you’re far from yours.

We work as a team in everything we do. Every class and every program is designed and reviewed collectively. If a teacher has a question or a new idea, there is always someone to share it with. This way of working makes teaching a collaborative experience rather than a solitary one. If I’m not sure how to approach an activity, if something in class didn’t go as planned, or if I have an idea that’s still taking shape, there’s always someone to talk it through with and help bring it to life.

We are teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, yes—but our team is wonderfully diverse. Some of us come from linguistics, literature, and language studies; others from theater, music, cooking, the arts, or tourism. We are also readers, artists, cooks, musicians, and athletes. What brings us together is curiosity—and how much we enjoy discovering connections between ourselves and our students.

That diversity enriches our courses and brings complementary teaching styles, even as we share the same educational philosophy and materials. Many of our students have had classes with different teachers throughout their learning journey, and they often tell us how much they gained from each unique perspective.

What truly unites us is our passion: for language, for teaching, and for supporting people as they learn. We believe in teaching with humor, questions, attentive listening, and respect. We genuinely care that every student learns, feels comfortable, and enjoys the process.

We also share a love of learning ourselves and a desire to pass that on. We teach with patience, curiosity, conversation, and time. And, of course, there’s the obvious part: we’re language enthusiasts in the truest sense of the word—proudly and unapologetically nerdy about it.

Our team is always evolving: changing, growing, and reinventing itself. But one thing remains constant—the desire to teach with dedication and joy. And for us, that is what makes both a great class and a great school.
